It's Fall Already?!

Wow! What a summer it was. At the end of Spring, my husband and I started to passively house hunt in San Francisco. By August we had made 2 offers on two very different homes. And one was accepted!
To say it all happened so fast would be an understatement. To stay competitive in the insane market in San Francisco we offered a short escrow.
Then it began. The insanity of packing, moving and setting up our new place. And in a blink of an eye - it was September 17th - our first wedding anniversary.
So we decided to get out for one night. Boxes still to be unpacked. Rooms to still be figured out (so many rooms that make so little sense), items to be fixed, a backyard to figure out. But we left. It was the best idea ever.
Thanks to our Hyatt points from our wedding we booked a Sunday night stay at the Andaz Napa. We enjoyed some perks - complimentary upgrade and some chocolates + a bottle of champagne for our anniversary.
We had a lovely couple's massage, followed by dinner, and then breakfast in bed on Monday morning. It was fun to take off work on Monday and relax. We had planned to do some wine tasting, but decided we'd forgo it for the next item on our itinerary: ADOPTING A DOG! We grabbed some food from Oxbow market and headed straight to the Napa Animal Shelter.
We wanted to share our happiness, love, and life with a shelter dog - and now we had the room to bring one home. We met a couple of dogs who were not interested in us at all. It's hard to gauge their interest since they're overwhelmed by the sheer fact that they get to be out of their kennel/cage - and they want to sniff everything! But, all dogs have different personalities and styles. We walked a husky, but he needed a marathon runner - and that, we are not.
We were ready to pack it in and hit the next shelter, making our way back to SF, when my husband said - one more, third time's the charm. And it was!
Moose Bear, an owner surrendered 5-year-old lab/pit mix, was sitting quietly in her cage. The minute they took her out she turned straight towards me and George to sniff us. We went into the yard and she sniffed the entire thing. But when she came over to us, she wanted pets and cuddles. Which is perfect for our loving home. We took her on a walk and fell in love.

It's definitely an adjustment. Understandably, she has separation anxiety at night. She always wants to know where we are. She wants constant reminders that she's loved. And we're happy to give that to her in pets, treats, and ball-playing.
So, there it is, everything that happened before the official start of fall. Now we're excited to turn some of our attention back to our home while enjoying the warm weather that comes with the typical San Francisco fall.
